hello world! the blogger template has never looked so strange before. you know what i mean? i really haven't visited this site for donkey months. hahaha! so the last time i updated was before my exam, and (omg my heart just skipped a beat, literally). okay and, exams have been over for almost two months now, and i thought i shall be back here jotting stuff down. :)
life's been pretty good, except for the fact that my brain's troubled with thoughts. but what say you? i'd say at least my brain is occupied :) ahhh, my girls would kill me since i'm supposed to meet them at 1pm at cha eng's place. i'm still here because i'm really not feeling well! must be stupid sebas and his flu bug laaaaaaaa!
anyway, i've gotta mention japan trip JAPAN TRIP JAPAN TRIP! so i was really lucky, to have gone to japan with the philharmonic winds to perform at Japan Band Clinic 2009. so we touched down at nagoya, and took a really long bus ride to hamamatsu, where our performance was held. we did the usual stuff, slurped really loudly with our bowls of ramen, tried to speak japanese, got our hands on japanese phrasebooks and tried our best not to sound stupid in the streets of japan (but we obviously did) and rehearsed, and performed, AND WE TOOK NEOPRINTS IN JAPAN! like, the authentic neoprints IN JAPAN! :) photos are on facebook, so please feel free to help yourselves. :D
the performance was on our third night there, and i'd say that it was really so-so, the audience was not very encouraging (i caught a few sleeping while i was counting bars on stage) and the auditorium was a bit too warm! that's something you don't really get in singapore. in singapore, interiors of buildings are always cooler than the exteriors. in japan, it was the opposite, cus they don't bother cooling the interiors since the temperature outside was really quite cooling.
lalala, highlight of the trip was obviously not the performance. HAHA! after the performance, a bunch of us visited their local supermarket (that felt strangely like cold storage) and we found half priced soba and super discounted tuna sushi! so we grabbed those and brought them back to our hotel and had this little feast in a room. (photos are on facebook so help yourselves again) haha! so as usual, we took many many photos, and after clearing up, we met the rest at this slightly sleazy place a short distance away from our hotel. i had my first cup(s) of sake in japan okay! and it was good. so we drank and talked and laughed and made A WHOLE LOT OF NOISE there, but we were lucky cus the place allowed rowdiness :) we got tipsy and then decided that it was late enough and we should head back to the hotel.
that was when sebas moonwalked on the streets of hamamatsu, started random chats with people walking on the streets, talking about blue bells of scotland and humming random trombone music (with actions). the rest of us, just camwhored A LOT. -cue: refer to facebook photos again - those pictures of us looking rather tipsy, with our hair wet and faces red. HAHA! i hope the residents of hamamatsu didn't wake up from their sleep because of the noise we made in the streets man! if not we should feel really guilty about it. haha!
we finally made our way back to the hotel, thinking that we would call that a night, but right before sebas entered his own room, he went to kick on someone else's room door, and we knew we weren't gonna call THAT a night. hahaha!
but anyway, that was the highlight of japan trip for you, and the rest of it, was really just sightseeing, walking around, getting lost, trying to find affordable food, and repeat. :)
the girls (me, huihui, kristen) extended our stay in japan for five more days, and we left the band on 19th may. we took a train to kyoto, and started our own little adventure in japan. (of course we wore masks!) i totally miss uno house (our hostel) in kyoto, and THE ADMIN GUY! hahahaha because he's cute and he has nice hair! :) kyoto was probably where we lost weight at, since we literally walked most of kyoto. but we gained back weight in tokyo because we just couldn't be bothered with looking for cheap and good food anymore, and resorted to fastfood for almost every meal. :( i really liked kyoto though! :) we girls had our own little night time talk from like 1030pm when we were prepared to go to bed, till around 1am! it felt really good trashing things out, and from then on, no more secrets throughout the trip! :)
